After Jim’s service in the Military, he returned to Buffalo, NY and met Judy and eventually they were married on Aug. 7, 1959. The first of their six kids was born on April 26, 1960. They then had 6 kids in 9 years. In January of 1960, Jim entered Palmer College of Chiropractic. He made many life long friends there along with having another child. He worked as a maintenance man for the college to pay bills. During his time attending and working at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Jim often spoke of how blessed he was. Many of his fondest memories was the late night work hours that gave him the opportunity to have several one-on-one interactions with BJ Palmer before BJ’s passing in May of 1961.

Upon graduation in Dec. of 1962 the family made their way to San Rafael, California where Dad started his practice under the late Dr. Steve Duff, DC. He had many great experiences during his 3 years with Dr. Duff. During the years there, children 3 and 4 were born. In 1966, Dr. Adams got an amazing opportunity to have his own practice in Sonoma, Ca. Jim went to work. Over the next 7 years he built one of the largest practices in Northern California. He purchased the land and built the 5,000 square foot building on Andrieux Street in Sonoma which is Adams Chiropractic Offices. In 1975 his was invited into the Prestigious Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable, an honor he has enjoyed for nearly 50 years. Jim always loved learning and discovering new ways to serve his patients.

In 1991 he found and was inspired by the teachings of Dr. Fred Carrick and the principles of Chiropractic Neurology. He quickly became obsessed with studying in greater depth the human nervous system. He became a Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist in 1993. He served as an examiner and board member of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (ACNB) for many years.

Jim loved our country with a passion. Was a deep student of history and especially the history of America and the world. He loved to laugh and loved a good joke or story. He didn’t really have any hobbies except studying about the human body and its systems. He loved spending time with his family. He was in active practice for 57 years until he retired in July of 2020. Jim truly loved life, God, family, country and Chiropractic. He often expressed gratitude for the people of Sonoma Valley and the patients he was able to care for. One of his greatest joys in life, was adding life to years and years to life for all through Chiropractic Neurology. Jim passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family on the afternoon of May 24, 2024. He served many well and the world was and is a better place because he walked and lived here.
